What we collect

Reading the pages, browsing the Library and using the interactive examples on the capability pages all happen in your browser. The choices you make in the interactive examples are not sent to us.

To understand which pages are useful we count visits without cookies and without storing your network address. For each page view we record the page, the site or search engine that sent you there (if your browser shares it), your country, the type of device, how long the page was open and how far you scrolled, and how quickly it loaded. We also record searches typed into the Library and which buttons or outside links were used. Repeat visits on the same day are recognised by a code made from your network address and browser with a key that changes every day and is then deleted, so visits cannot be linked across days or traced back to you. These records are kept for up to 400 days. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, nothing is counted.

When you send a message through the contact form we receive and store the details you enter: your name, email address, organization (optional), the topic you chose and your message, together with the page you sent it from and the time.

When you subscribe to the newsletter we store your email address, the page you subscribed from and the time. Where email is enabled, we send a message asking you to confirm; until you confirm, we send you no newsletter.

To limit abuse we store a one-way hash of your network address for about an hour, after which it is deleted; we cannot read your address from it.

How we use it

We use your message to read it and reply to you, and a confirmed newsletter address to send ideas and insights from OSVARD. We do not sell these details. Every newsletter email includes a link to unsubscribe.

Who can see it

Messages and subscriptions are stored on OSVARD's own server and are visible only to authorised OSVARD staff. The hosting and network providers that deliver this website process technical data under their own policies.

Cookies

This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies, and visit counting stores nothing in your browser. A sign-in cookie is used only on the staff area, which is not open to visitors.

Your choices

You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the details you sent us by sending a new message through the contact form that says so. We keep a message only as long as needed to respond to it and to keep a reasonable record of the conversation.
